Carl Thomas Long, 70, died peacefully at his home in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his long-time love and three children on August 24, 2020.
Born in Ft. Smith, AR, Carl was the son of Charles E. Long, Jr. and Lois G. (Patterson) Long. He attended Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa, OK, and studied engineering at the University of Tulsa. His early career at Medco Jewelry took him to Phoenix, AZ and Denver, CO before he moved to Oklahoma City to join the family business, Oklahoma Truck Supply. At OTS, Carl served as co-owner and Vice President.
Carl enjoyed tackling home projects, caring for his yard, and keeping the family cars clean and in running order. Some of his favorite activities included swimming in the family pool, watching movies, learning about aviation and war history, as well as spending quality time enjoying his kids’ activities and helping with school projects.
He is survived by best friend and companion Diane Long of Oklahoma City; daughter Lisa Chappell (husband Brian) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter Christie Reyes (husband Tommy) of San Pedro, CA; son Kyle Long of Oklahoma City; brother Norman Long (and Jacque) of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Gibson, Olivia and Lucas Reyes. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles & Lois Long, and grandson Stephen Thomas Pool.
A memorial service will be held to honor Carl on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 2pm in the chapel at Crossings Community Church located at 14600 N Portland Avenue in Oklahoma City. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in Carl’s name to the American Liver Foundation.
