Darel Glen Patterson, beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather was born in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Frances and Lorene Patterson. Darel graduated from Duncan High School, class of 1964. While attending Business School, he met the love of his life, Vicki Sue Truitt, and they were married in June of 1966. They had two sons: Byron and Robert. Darel loved his family and coaching little league football with his son. They were all diehard OU Football fans.
He went on to work for 7-11 stores for 17 years. He also worked in Electronics at Silo and Circuit City stores for 10 year which lead them to Tampa Bay, Florida and then back to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also worked for Service Corp International selling pre-need funerals and was hired by Selected Funeral & Life Insurance where he worked for 14 and a half years. He later retired in July of 2014 from S.F.L.I.C., and started the preferred underwriting program as a telephone underwriter until his death. He was affectionately known as “Pup Daddy”.
Darel was preceded in death by his father: Frances; his paternal grandparents: Leonard and Irm Patterson; and his maternal grandfather: Carlos Mashburn, and wife Blanch Hackleman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Vicki Patterson; sons: Byron and Robert Patterson; Grandson: Perry Patterson; his mother: Lorene Patterson; sister: Carol and her husband Dewain Adkins of Duncan; two nephews: Jeff Davenport and wife Dawn and family of Marlow, and Brian Davenport and wife Jamie and family of Duncan.
Darel was a people person and made a lot of friends along the way. He will be truly missed by many friends, business associates, and his loving family.
