Dennis Joe Melton, 60, passed away on August 5, 2020. He was born in Oklahoma City to his parents, Willis and Patricia Melton, and had one sibling, David. Growing up in Oklahoma City his entire life, he also attended Oklahoma City Public schools. Dennis spent the better part of 40 years with the love of his life, Janet Dockrey, with whom he had three children with; Kelsie, Samantha, and Ben. He was a contractor by trade with a specialty in laying tile, something he had truly mastered.
Dennis had an infectious personality which drew people to him his entire life. He loved watching sports with his family and friends, namely football (Oklahoma Sooners & Pittsburgh Steelers) and hockey (Pittsburgh Penguins), as well as playing video games with his children and his best friend Dennie. Within this infectious personality, his greatest talent was getting people to laugh – sometimes it would just be in tune with his famous laugh. Along with this, Dennis was also inherently keen to others’ feelings and was often a great source of comfort and consolation. These moments of laughter and caring will live on as Dennis’s legacy.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Patricia. He is survived by his brother, David; his wife, Janet; his daughters, Samantha and Kelsie; his son, Ben; his grandsons, Conner, Carson, and Colton; and his granddaughter, Mikenna.
Dennis’s ashes will be kept in jewelry by his close loved ones as well as scattered within Oklahoma City where he lived his entire life.
