Ellen (Hart) Brand, 71, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022, at her home in Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by parents, Kathryn and Mason “Bud” Hart; and her sister, Becky McPheron.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Christine McDaniel; two grandchildren, Bailey and Brenden McDaniel; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Frank Shanklin; sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Butch Whitten. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and J.J. her beloved dog.
Ellen was born May 31, 1951 in Enid, Oklahoma. She attended school in Enid, later moving to Oklahoma City to work as an administrative assistant in several State of Oklahoma offices including Enid State School, Department of Human Services and Office of Juvenile Affairs. She retired from the state in 2003.
Ellen loved animals of all kinds. She rode horses as a child, and as an adult she always had at least one dog or cat, most often a rescued one. She spent much time volunteering for animal welfare causes, including much work on the campaign to end cock fighting in Oklahoma. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family, was an avid reader, and loved watching movies.
Ellen had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. She was also fond of the occasional practical joke.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life being held Friday, December 9th, 2022 at 12:30 pm. to 2:30 p.m. at The Olie, 2412 N. Olie Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. A time for fellowship, remembrance, and refreshments.
