Oklahoma City – Elizabeth “Betty” Schneider, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away June 28, 2020 surrounded by her family, at her son’s house in Oklahoma City, where she had been residing since July 2019.
Elizabeth Mary Raitmaier was born June 27, 1939 on a farm in Banat, Michigan. She moved to Wisconsin, married, and had five children. Settling in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, she enjoyed a long and successful career at Ametek Plastics, eventually retiring from the compounding department. She also worked at Faye’s Pizza and attended Lakeshore Technical College, where she earned an associate’s degree in computer technology.
During her last few years at Ametek, Betty started a second career as a cook at a retirement center and began to see the world. She visited Australia, Europe, Africa, South America, and flew over Antarctica, and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada. In addition to traveling, Betty enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, cooking, and collecting recipes. She also relished finding treasures at thrift stores. She loved animals of all kinds, and lately took comfort in her cats, MollyPutz and TinkyTwo.
Betty is survived by five children: Cynthia M. Warhurst (Virginia), Lisa K. Dettlaff (Wisconsin), Steven A. Dettlaff (Wisconsin), Charles R. Dettlaff (Oklahoma), and Angela J. Wick (Minnesota). She has 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Wolfgang Raitmaier, her mother, Julia (Wash) Raitmaier, and two brothers, Joseph and Robert.
