Rev. Dr. James Paskell (Pat) Kennedy of Yukon, OK passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, and went home to his Father in Heaven. He answered the call to ministry and served God and others for 50 years in the Presbyterian Church.
He was born in Enid, OK on March 24, 1944, to Sidney and Beatrice (Coleman) Kennedy and was the youngest of three boys. His two older brothers Willis Mack and Sidney Ray Jr. preceded him in death at time of their births. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Rheta, daughter Tera Scroggs, grandson Boston James Scroggs, and many cousins.
Pat is a native of Ardmore where he graduated from Ardmore High School in 1962. He had a BA degree from the University of the Ozarks, Clarksville, AR and a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY.
Pat served churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Indiana, Arkansas, and Alabama. He also served as institutional Chaplain at Kentucky State Reformatory, LaGrange, KY, Central State Hospital, Anchorage, KY and Lynwood Girls Center, Anchorage.
Dr. Pat has been an active participant in his denomination, currently serving at the First Presbyterian Church in Chickasha and Presbytery of Indian Nations and Synod of the Sun. As a result of his training and experience, he was very active in the Presbyterian Disaster Relief and social justice in the Presbyterian Church. He was involved in mental health programs throughout his ministry.
He loved his baby girl Tera and grandson Boston, the OU Sooners, camping, fishing and he was also a friend of Bill Wilson.
