JAMES “JIM” EDGAR SIMS, 87, died Saturday April 16, 2022 in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Jim was born August 01, 1934, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Beatrice Sims.
He attended North High School, Wichita Kansas, where he played football and was a wrestler.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1951 and served in Korea and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1959.
Jim attended Friends University, Wichita, Kansas and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Jim married Marliene Carol Minton on July 29, 1954. They were married 68 years and were blessed with four children, Dale, Linda, Roger and Paul.
He served as a Baptist missionary to the Navajo Indians in Cuba New Mexico and as a minister to churches in Kansas and Oklahoma.
He also worked at Graybar Electric and Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. As well as Swearingen Aircraft in San Antonio, Texas. He was part owner of Yukon Pawn in Yukon, Oklahoma.
In 1998, Jim and Marliene moved to Cedar Lake, south of El Reno, Oklahoma and enjoyed serving at the chapel for twenty years.
Jim loved working on guns, cars and telling people about Jesus as well as elaborating about his many life adventures.
He is survived by his wife and lifelong companion Marilene, his sons Dr. Dale Sims and Roger Sims, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Linda and his son Paul.
