James Willie Watson was born July 2, 1958, in Clinton, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hollis High School. James was great in every sport, but basketball was his thing. He had the coolest three pointer you’d ever seen. James also liked to play dominos, but his true game was chess. I remember James used to say chess was a gentleman’s game, and it took true skills. He would say chess was a smart man’s game. James was very intelligent. He mastered his mom’s handwriting so every time one of his sibling’s would get a note from the school he would sign it, and no one ever knew. We all got away with it. James loved life and he loved his family.
James is preceded in death by his father: Clarence Wilson; brother: Christopher Watson; grandmother: Lucille Smith; aunt: Jodie Smith; and cousin: Diane Garcia.
The survivors left to cherish his memory include his mother: Gloria Fay Sanders; his long time girlfriend: Shannon Bookman; his brothers: Robert Watson, Otis Watson, Wilbert Arnett, all of Hollis, OK, Gene Watson, of Lawton, OK, and his youngest brother, Redderick Watson, of Hollis, OK; his sisters Debra Garcia, of Gould, OK, Janet Turner, and Deloris Crowder of Lawton, OK; his aunt: Wanda Kay Nelson, of Altus, OK; many uncles; a host of nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.
James surely will be missed by all his loved ones.
