Jeffery David Sykes, 66, of Oklahoma City, passed away on September 12, 2021, in Oklahoma City, OK.
Jeff was born in Tulsa, OK, to Robert Carol Sykes and Irene (Brown) Sykes on July 26, 1955. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1973 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Bethany Nazarene College in 1979. He married Jeanne Dressler in 1984 and they were blessed with one daughter, Allyson. Jeff last worked with Midland Mortgage as a Delinquency Specialist and was set to receive an honor for his years of service this coming November.
Jeff loved barbershop singing. He joined his first barbershop chorus as a teenager with his dad. He went on to be director of the OK Chorale and Sooner Sensations (a Sweet Adelines chorus), and a quartet coach. He received countless awards as a barbershopper. He also loved fishing, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and his family.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Irene Sykes, and his sisters-in-law Janet Sykes and Doronda Sykes.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, daughter Allyson and husband Keegan Trimble, and two grandchildren, Konnor (5) and Amelia (2), brother Ron Sykes, and brother Daryl and wife Lynette (Gibson) Sykes.
Jeff donated blood 49 times, for a total of 6 gallons. So, in lieu of flowers, there will be a blood drive for the Oklahoma Blood Institute in Jeff’s honor on October 9, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Fellowship at Western Oaks, 7901 NW 16th St., Oklahoma City, OK. You may also donate blood at any other OBI blood drive within the next year in his honor, or make monetary donations to the OBI in his honor.
A memorial service will be held on October 10, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. at Salyer Lake Campground, 24132 OK-152, Minco, OK.
