Johnnie Lee Skidgel was born January 15, 1941, in Glencoe, Oklahoma, to Lee and Elsie Skidgel. After a long battle with cancer, he departed this earth on February 3, 2020, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family and his beloved dog, Izzy.

He always kept his cars spotless, enjoyed road trips and, traveling with family along with OKC Thunder games.

John graduated from Pawnee High School and attended Central State University (UCO), in Edmond. For six years, he served with the 45th Infantry of the Army National Guard and earned the rank of Staff Sargent.

John worked for Braniff Airlines and spent many years in the oil fields with various companies. One of his favorite jobs was the time he spent as the Purchasing Director for Perry Memorial Hospital, where he worked until his retirement, in October of 2014.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Elsie, and his youngest sister, JoAnn.

John is survived by his wife Nanette; and their son, Shawn, and his daughter Hannah; his son Shane and his wife, April, and their daughters, Ainsley and Sadie. He is also survived by his sister Kathy and husband Gail Goodwin as well as many nieces and nephews.
