Lizbeth Kay (Redgate) Elder was born March 31, 1957 to Gerald and Esther Redgate in Waynoka, Oklahoma and departed this life on December 11, 2020 in Oklahoma City. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Richard Elder, and their daughter Elisha Elder; sister, Sue Kelso, her husband Mike; nieces Melinda Koteras and Marilee Hamby; nephew Matthew Kelso and their families; aunt, Allez Jamison, and a host of beloved cousins and friends.
Kay’s early years were spent in Waynoka where she attended elementary, junior high and high school – graduating in 1975. She went on to Oklahoma Christian University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. She continued her education at Oklahoma University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1979 and a Masters of Science in 1982. Kay accumulated a number of hours toward a doctorate while juggling working and being a devoted wife and mother.
Kay’s employment history includes working as a Registered Nurse in various settings and later as a Diabetes Educator and teaching in nursing departments at UNLV, Los Vegas, NV and Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva, OK before moving to Edmond to help with the fledgling nursing program at Oklahoma Christian University where she worked from 2006 until her retirement.
Kay had a caring and compassionate nature and helping others was a life’s mission for her. She was loved and will be missed by many!
