Rita Kopycinski passed peacefully from this life into the next on Sunday morning December 13, 2020 Chickasha, Oklahoma. Rita was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 30, 1940. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved getting to see her grandchildren grow and learn. Rita was a graduate of the first graduating class of Harding High School in Oklahoma City and went on to earn a Bachelor of Education degree from Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma. After a long career as a teacher, she earned her Master of Education in Library Science and became the Elementary and Middle School Library Media Specialist in Lindsay, Oklahoma going on later in her career as the Library Media Specialist for Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma and eventually retiring. One of her greatest loves in life was fostering a love of books in children. She was active in several organizations throughout her life and was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Delta Zeta, Gamma Beta Kappa and the Altar Society of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Rita was also named as Woman of Achievement for Epiphany’s Altar Society.
Rita is survived by her husband Robert Kopycinski of 52 years; son Rodney Kopycinski and wife Alyson of Chickasha, Oklahoma; daughter Ashley Eckroat and husband Joseph of Edmond, Oklahoma; her five grandchildren Grace and Grant Kopycinski, Matthew, Zachary, and Benjamin Eckroat; nephew Harvey Privett and numerous cousins that she loved dearly.
