Sharon McCurdy was born March 15, 1942 to Eugene and Anna Jane McCurdy in Springfield, MO. She died peacefully July 8, 2022, at the age of 80, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Prior to her death, she was treated to an 80th birthday celebration with family and good friends at The Greens Country Club. Sharon loved her family above all else and installed strong values and work ethics in her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, cooking and her animals which included dogs, cats, ducks and chickens. She lived most of her life in Tulsa and Oklahoma City while working for Street’s Clothing Store, first as a cashier and ending her career there as a buyer. Her mentor and best friend, Mary Bates, was there to guide her along the way. It was a dream come true when she opened her own store, The Sample Shop, where she made many new friends. She is survived by her partner of over 28 years, Wayne Smith; her daughter, Cindy Weeks and husband Chris; two grandchildren, Kendall Kersey and James Kersey; two great-grandchildren, Cabe Carroll and Conley Carroll; three brothers, Tim McCurdy and wife Cindy, Joe McCurdy and wife Dayna, and Steve McCurdy; nieces and nephews, Jacob Fowler (Alee), Collin Fowler (Amy), Mary Margaret Knight, Megan Calhoon (Holt), Russell McCurdy, Andrea Corn (Clay), and Sam McCurdy (Molly); great-nieces and nephews Sam, Jackson, Reagan, and Cooper Fowler, Parker and Madeline Knight, Francie and Bennett McCurdy, Remy and Luna Fowler, and Lucy Calhoon. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Teresa McCurdy. A celebration of life will be held at All Souls’ Episcopal Church in the St. Mary Chapel, Thursday, July 21st , 11:00 a.m. Her ashes will be returned to Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any animal rescue facility or the All Souls’ Episcopal Church.
