Shirley was born August 4, 1950, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Albert and Dorothy Garrison. She joined her brother, Richard, where they lived until 1960 when they moved to Oklahoma City. Her father was employed by Western Electric.
She graduated in 1968 from Putnam City High School. Later, she was employed at Western Electric as a supervisor.
Her love of animals eventually led her to Volunteers for Animal Welfare where she was Executive Director for 27 years. She also did animal cruelty case work and worked tirelessly for the Statewide petition against cock-fighting laws. While at VAW, she met with many legislators to encourage their support of this important bill. Her dedication to animals gained her numerous close friends of similar minds.
Shirley married Frank Coble on June 9, 1983. He has one son, Camden.
For many years she created floral arrangements and enjoyed weekend arts and crafts shows.
After retiring in 2010, she enjoyed potted plants and being entertained by the birds and squirrels in her backyard oasis.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Richard and his wife, Sally, of Edmond, her husband of 39 years, Frank, Camden and two grandchildren, Paige and Tanner. She leaves several special friends throughout Oklahoma and other states.
