William Eugene “Gene” Carter, age 80, died on September 29, 2020 in Oklahoma City. Gene Carter is survived by his wife, Beverly; son Matt and wife Lori; son Mark; five grandchildren Paden, Jacob, Natalie, Landon and Levi; six great-grandchildren Shayden, Oliver, Caitlin, Cassidy, Barrett, and William.
He is preceded in death by his father Ross William Carter; his mother Rachel Young Carter; his brother Ross Dale; sisters Mary and Sharon.
Gene was born on November 24, 1939 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to parents Ross William and Rachel Carter. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1975 with a degree in Business Administration. Gene became a local businessman in Norman, Oklahoma then transitioned into his career as a catastrophic insurance adjuster.
Gene was a great family man and follower of Christ. In 1966, he met the love of his life, Beverly Elliot. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, supportive friend and over-indulgent grandfather.
Gene was a dedicated sports fan and avid traveler. He was a life-long OU football fan and rarely missed a game. Gene and Beverly enjoyed cruising whenever the opportunity presented itself. However, his true passion was watching his kids and grandkids in their activities.
Gene’s family and friends will always remember him for his generosity and for being the backbone of his family. He was the man who showed up to support his loved ones and always offered an encouraging word.
